Lord, thank you for this place
I am writing these words from the rooftop where I live here in Haiti. The view is incredible: mountains further than your eyes can see to my North and South, farm land to my West, further views of the valley to my East, all covered with people working and going about their daily routines. The sky above me is a beautiful bright blue with a few snow-white clouds dotting the scene. I take a deep breath of warm island breeze (thankfully the air is fresher up here) and sigh a contented “Lord, thank you for this place”. This is Haiti. Although living here is not always easy, I am always grateful for the growth that God is doing here through the good days and the difficult days.
What place does God currently have you? The Bible reminds us we are to sing praises of thanksgiving in every season.
Psalm 145:2 says, “EVERYDAY I will bless you and praise your Name forever and ever.”
Psalm 126:2, “Our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy.”
Psalm 95:2, “Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song.”
Psalm 47:1, “Clap your hands all you peoples! Shout to God with loud songs of joy!”
You get the point.
We are to pray without ceasing.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
Are you in a season of celebration? Celebrate with God!
Are you in a season of joy? Give joyful praise to God!
Are you in a season of recent emancipation? Honor God with the freedom He’s given!
Are you in a season of change? Praise God for his unchanging faithfulness!
Are you in a season of difficulty? Lean into His arms that overcome all!
Are you in a season of bondage? Pray for the freedom found in Christ!
Are you in a season of sorrow? Cry out to God, the God of all comfort!
The beauty of life as a follower of Christ is we can know He is in control and He is in every moment we encounter. Every laugh, every tear, every sleepless night, and every peaceful moment – He is in them all. Wherever life finds you today stop and take time to thank God for that place and for His All-Mighty Presence in each moment.
He is good. He is God. And He is faithful. He is the great I AM.
“And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” – Colossians 1:17
